Polska 2050 Leadership Election Date Set
The second round of elections for the head of Polska 2050 party will be held by January 31, as decided by the party’s National Council. Members will choose between two government representatives: head of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kłoska.
First Round Results
In the first round, over 800 eligible delegates cast 656 votes. Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz received 277 votes, while Paulina Hennig-Kłoska received 131 votes. The National Council will meet on February 7 to elect the party’s National Board.
Invalidated Voting Process
Party structures will repeat elections after the second round voting was invalidated on Monday, January 12. Polska 2050 announced it would inform the Internal Security Agency about an incident during the second round of voting for the party leadership. The party stated there was a high probability of external influence on the electoral process, noting significantly more votes cast than eligible party members.
Holownia Steps Aside
Current Polska 2050 chairman Szymon Hołownia announced he is leaving decisions about the party’s future in the hands of the candidates for the leadership position. The former Sejm Marshal informed in social media that he was influenced by decisions made by Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and Hennig-Kłoska. Hołownia emphasized maintaining the cohesion of the October 15 Coalition and the stability of the parliamentary club.
