Ministry Proposes Curriculum Changes
For the 2026/2027 school year, Poland’s Ministry of National Education has presented a draft regulation that provides for the removal of six occupations from the classification and the introduction of 11 new ones. According to the ministry, the new occupations better meet the needs of the labor market and provide students with greater development opportunities. The project has been sent for consultations, social consultations and opinions.
Professions to be Removed
The regulation project covers two industries: precision mechanics and horticulture. In the precision mechanics industry, several occupations will be removed from the classification. In the horticulture industry, additional occupations will also be removed.
The ministry emphasizes that students who have already started studying in these fields will be able to complete them, but no new classes will be created.
New Occupations Planned
The regulation project also provides for the introduction of 11 new occupations. They will be assigned to three industries: precision mechanics, horticulture and teleinformatics.
In the precision mechanics industry, several new professions will be introduced. In the horticulture industry, additional new professions will be added. The teleinformatics industry will also see new occupational offerings.
Additional Changes to Qualifications
The project also assumes corrections to occupational names and qualifications. At the request of the minister responsible for culture and national heritage, training in the florist profession will be moved from post-secondary school to first-degree vocational school. The name of the qualification will also be changed from “Performing floral compositions” to “Planning and performing floral compositions.”
The florist profession will serve as the foundation for training in the profession of technician of floral arrangements. Meanwhile, at the request of the minister responsible for transport, changes to qualification names will be introduced in two occupations in the road transport industry and three in the air transport industry.
