Polish municipalities offer financial support for pet procedures including spaying, neutering, and microchipping in 2026.
Municipal Pet Subsidy Programs
Many municipalities in Poland fund certain procedures and microchipping of pets, commonly referred to as “500 plus for a dog and cat.” To receive a refund, one must be a resident of the municipality and submit an application. It is advisable to contact the appropriate municipality for your place of residence to check if they currently offer subsidies for procedures at selected facilities and for microchipping of dogs and cats.
Warsaw’s Spaying and Microchipping Initiative
The next edition of Warsaw’s spaying and microchipping campaign is planned for Q1 2026, although this timeline may change due to the need to conduct a new public tender. Agreements are signed for two years. The previous tender was conducted in 2024.
How to Apply for Veterinary Subsidies
Procedures will be performed at animal treatment facilities with which agreements will be signed to provide contracted veterinary services. Pet owners also fill out spaying or microchipping applications at these locations. Detailed information about the campaign can be found on the Warsaw 19115 website. After signing an agreement with the contractor, a list of animal treatment facilities where one can register for castration procedures will be published on the site. Warsaw has allocated 1.5 million zlotys for procedures in the spaying and microchipping campaign.
What Procedures Are Covered
The capital city of Warsaw finances standard spaying procedures under infusion anesthesia, with a maximum of two animals per year per owner. The cost of the procedure includes: [The source doesn’t specify exact costs]. Free microchipping is available to pet owners and non-governmental organizations.
Conditions and Limitations of Subsidies
To benefit from the procedure financed by the capital city of Warsaw, the animal must be in good health and properly prepared for the procedure. A veterinarian has the right to decline to perform a previously scheduled procedure if the animal is sick or the owner has not prepared it properly. The city does not cover additional tests (such as EKG, X-ray, ultrasound, blood or urine tests) or other additional procedures/services. The city is not responsible for post-operative complications or costs related to their treatment. Warsaw does not provide other pet subsidies beyond spaying and microchipping in 2026.
