Polish man Paweł K. sentenced to 3.5 years for espionage targeting Rzeszów airport to aid Zelensky assassination plot.

Verdict in Plot Case

A Polish court has convicted Paweł K., a 50-year-old from Hrubieszów, for espionage and plotting against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Zamość District Court sentenced him to a combined 3 years and 6 months in prison, reported spokesperson Jacek Dobrzyński.

Wagner Group Recruitment

Dobrzyński revealed K. had expressed willingness to join Russian military intelligence (GRU) and the Wagner Group for espionage. His activities included gathering and passing information on Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport security, potentially aiding an assassination attempt on Zelensky.

Arrest and Investigation

K. was arrested in April 2024. Prosecutors allege he collected and shared intelligence about Rzeszów airport with Russian military personnel directly involved in the Ukraine war, aiming to facilitate a plot against a foreign head of state. Ukrainian authorities alerted Polish prosecutors.
