Poles Back Ziobro’s Return to Poland for Investigation

A November 2025 survey found that 68% of Polish respondents want former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro to return to Poland for questioning over the Justice Fund scandal.

Survey: Ziobro Should Return to Poland for Investigation

SW Research, commissioned by Onet, interviewed 824 respondents online on 12‑13 November 2025, asking if Zbigniew Ziobro should return to Poland to be questioned by prosecutors over the Justice Fund case. The majority, 68.1%, answered yes, 17.4% said no, and 14.6% were unsure.

Prosecution Seeks Temporary Arrest of Ziobro

On Thursday, prosecutors filed a petition for temporary arrest of Ziobro. Acting national prosecutor Przemysław Nowak said the former minister could not be detained because he is in Hungary. Prosecutors listed three grounds: risk of flight (he lacks a permanent residence in Poland), risk of intimidation (media remarks and accusations of leading a criminal group), and the potential for a severe sentence—up to 25 years.

Justice Minister Urges Ziobro to Attend Court

Last week the Sejm lifted Ziobro’s immunity and approved his arrest; investigators plan to charge him with 26 offences relating to abuse of the Justice Fund. Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek posted on social media, urging Ziobro to appear at the prosecutor’s office, stressing that evidence is ample, there is a flight risk, and that all should be treated equally regardless of past ministerial status.
