The Role of Inflation Expectations
“At the end of the 20th century, economists observed that one of the most important—if not the most important—factors shaping inflation are so-called inflation expectations. An intuitive example: if we expect prices to rise soon, we will act rationally if we stop postponing larger expenses for the future (to manage before prices increase) or more assertively seek a raise at work, thereby generating pressure (demand and wage) for price increases already today”—reports Bank Pekao.
