Polish church statistics show a modest rebound in Sunday attendance and communion, with the 2024 year recording higher participation levels than 2023, according to the Catholic Church Statistics Institute.
Sunday Attendance Improves
The 2024 “dominicantes” rate rose to 29.6%, up 0.57 percentage points from 29.2% in 2023. In 2022 the figure was 29.5%, and in 2021 it stood at 28.3%.
Communion Rates Increase
Communion participation climbed to 14.6% in 2024, a 0.64-point gain over 14.0% in 2023. The previous years recorded 13.9% in 2022 and 12.9% in 2021.
Sacramental Data
Baptisms fell to 247,168 in 2024 from 267,150 in 2023, 302,165 in 2022, and 315,357 in 2021. Holy communion was administered to 319,928 people in 2024, down from 324,982 in 2023, 337,187 in 2022, and 331,744 in 2021. Marriage sacraments declined to 68,285 in 2024, compared with 77,244 in 2023, 87,899 in 2022, and 103,807 in 2021.

Advent began on November 30 and concludes on Christmas Eve, December 24, marking a period of spiritual preparation for the Birth of Christ.
