Poles Take Over Villa in Spain, Earlier Intend to Kill Two Germans

Three Polish nationals seized a villa in Elche, Spain, on Monday evening, before police entered to arrest them after a confrontation that left two Germans dead and a third wounded.

At about 18:00 on Monday, police entered a villa in Elche where three German citizens were found inside. According to El Pais, the building had been illegally occupied by two Poles. The situation escalated into a brutal brawl, resulting in the deaths of two Germans from multiple injuries. No evidence of knives or firearms was found, and a third victim was taken to hospital in serious condition. The bodies were reportedly left near a nearby road.

Police Response

Spanish police and the Civil Guard were dispatched to the scene. Negotiations with the Poles, facilitated by a translator, continued into Tuesday afternoon, when authorities finally breached the property at 14:00. The suspects were arrested, and they had been previously detained only a few weeks earlier for trespassing on the same premises.

Background on the Perpetrators

The villa belonged to a German citizen who had requested friends to change the locks and look after the house. The Poles, reportedly familiar with the property, had once again broken in, violating earlier legal agreements.
