Police arrest in Warsaw
Police officers from the Warsaw I District Command apprehended the 40‑year‑old suspect, who was alleged to have encouraged a 12‑year‑old girl to engage in sexual activity.
Prior conviction and child pornography
The suspect had previously been convicted a year earlier for publishing pornographic material involving a child. Investigations found that he possessed child pornography.
Alleged sexual solicitation of a minor
The man reportedly urged a minor under 15 to engage in sexual acts or submit to other sexual activities. Police reported: “The 12‑year‑old told him her age and grade, and he insisted on meeting for sexual purposes.”
Arrest details and evidence
At 6:00 a.m., officers from the Division for Combating Crimes Against Life and Health knocked on his door. He was aware of the officers’ visit and was not surprised. Officers seized equipment and data storage devices; several laptops had hard drives removed. The suspect claimed he worked as an electronics repair technician but admitted, “I’m not actually doing that and I don’t know much about it.”
Court orders detention
The suspect was taken to a police holding cell and charged with offering sexual contact and submission to other sexual activities to a minor under 15. The court granted the District Prosecutor’s request for temporary detention, with a potential sentence of up to two years in prison.
Police warning to parents
Authorities urge parents to monitor what their children discuss and with whom they communicate online, and to avoid meeting strangers met through messaging apps, as the person on the other side may pose as someone else.
