Śląskie police have appealed for calm and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information regarding the death of MP Łukasz Litewka.
Authorities stated there is currently no confirmed evidence suggesting the incident was intentional, emphasizing ongoing investigations to determine the exact circumstances.
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed the accident or possesses relevant information contact the police or prosecutor’s office.
This includes drivers who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident.
MP Litewka’s Death Confirmed
Łukasz Litewka, a 36-year-old MP from the Lewica party and known for his charitable work, tragically died on Thursday afternoon after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle.
The accident occurred after 1:00 PM on Kazimierzowska Street in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
Preliminary Findings
Initial police investigations suggest the 57-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Colt, a resident of Sosnowiec, may have fallen asleep or become unwell at the wheel.
The vehicle reportedly crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with MP Litewka. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the MP was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway
The driver of the Mitsubishi Colt has been detained, and a blood test was conducted to check for alcohol and other substances.
Investigators are gathering evidence, conducting expert examinations, and analyzing materials to establish the precise sequence of events.

The prosecutor’s office plans to provide an update on the investigation during a press conference scheduled for Friday afternoon.
