Police Arrest 41-Year-Old Suspect Linked to Ten Aggravated Thefts

Officers from the Property Crimes Unit have apprehended a 41-year-old man suspected of stealing gold chains worth 27,500 PLN by snatching them from victims in public transport areas.

Operation and Investigation

Property crime detectives initiated an investigation following a series of reports regarding gold chains being snatched from victims. After analyzing evidence and reviewing hours of surveillance footage, they identified the suspect and linked two recent incidents to similar crimes from the previous year.

The suspect primarily operated on trams and buses near a specific transit stop. To avoid identification, he would flee into nearby bushes after each theft to change his clothing.

Swift Arrest and Charges

While reviewing surveillance footage at a local shop, an officer spotted the suspect. He immediately called for backup and successfully apprehended the surprised 41-year-old man before the planned arrest operation.

The suspect has been charged with ten counts of aggravated theft involving the snatching of gold necklaces. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at 27,500 PLN.

Legal Status of the Suspect

The Warsaw-Praga South District Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the case. As a result of the proceedings, the suspect has been placed under police supervision and must report to authorities three times a week.
