Police Arrest Four After Attack on Ukrainian Women in Pruszków

Four people were arrested in Pruszków after attacking Ukrainian women with sticks and pepper spray, damaging property in a violent altercation.

Incident Details

A violent incident occurred on Saturday, January 7th in Pruszków when police received a report of a disturbance involving several people on Ołówkowa Street. According to Miejski Reporter, two men began hitting windows of apartments with wooden sticks, shattering approximately twenty panes of glass.

Confrontation with Victims

A 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen came out of one of the apartments to demand compensation for the damage. At this point, a woman joined the men, and a physical altercation occurred between her and the 29-year-old. The Ukrainian woman’s mother-in-law came to her assistance. One of the men struck the 29-year-old woman in the head with a wooden stick, and both women were sprayed with gas by the attackers, according to police.

Police Response

Police confirmed that both women were hospitalized for examinations but have since been discharged. No life-threatening injuries were sustained. On Monday, February 9th, the Capital City Police Command announced that four people had been arrested in connection with the beating of two women on Ołówkowa Street. The arrested individuals include three men aged 23, 35, and 50, and a 45-year-old woman.

Witness Account

Contradicting police statements, a witness contacted Kontakt24 claiming the attackers were football hooligans. According to the witness, the group, wearing balaclavas and armed with baseball bats and pepper spray, arrived at Ołówkowa Street around 9:30 PM following a football match. The witness reported being woken by screams and the sound of breaking glass around 11 PM and encountering two men who questioned his nationality and demanded identification.

Alleged Motive and Victim Statement

The Ośrodek Monitorowania Zachowań Rasistowskich i Ksenofobicznych reported that during the attack, the perpetrators shouted “Go back to your own country, bitch! Defend the homeland!” at the Ukrainian victims. The organization described how the attackers broke into a hostel, damaged security equipment, and assaulted the Ukrainian women, including a 29-year-old mother of a three-year-old child and her mother-in-law, who was reportedly knocked to the ground and kicked.
