In Żyrardów, police launched a multi‑day operation on 21 December after reports of three unknown persons near a railway crossing, leading to a street closure and the discovery of two abandoned vehicles in a nearby forest.
Report of Unknown Individuals Near Tracks
On the evening of Sunday 21 December, the police in Żyrardów received a report of three unidentified persons seen in Wola Polska (the municipality of Puszcza Mariańska, Żyrardów County) near a railway track.
Patrols Inspect Crossing and Forest; Vehicles Discovered
Patrol units were dispatched immediately. They examined the area around the railway crossing and the surrounding forest. During the search, officers found two abandoned vehicles in the forest. A safety zone was established around the vehicle sites.
Street Closure and Continued Operations
Consequently, the street near the crossing was closed for several hours. Operations continued into the morning of Monday 22 December, after which traffic was restored. The focus of further activity remains on the track area and the forest.
No Threat Disclosed; Identification Pending
At present, the services have not reported finding any items that posed a danger. They are also attempting to identify the three persons seen near the tracks, who reportedly fled before patrol arrival.
Military Facility and National Railway Protection Operation
Close to the site is a facility linked to the 2nd Regional Material Base of the Polish Armed Forces, accessed via a side track integrated into the railway network. At the same time, nationwide police, the Railway Protection Guard, and the armed forces are conducting intensified railway protection actions under Operation “TOR”.
