The incident occurred on January 29 in Mława when police responded to a report about a woman needing urgent medical assistance. Officers heard a “soft whimpering” and found a newborn hidden in a closet. The 25-year-old mother and child were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Child’s Condition
The newborn was taken to a different hospital than the mother and underwent surgery for a cut wound on its head, likely caused by a sharp object. The child was also hypothermic but is now in stable condition.
Legal Developments
The mother was charged with attempted infanticide after being discharged from the hospital. During the police intervention, four other people were present, three of whom were detained. The mother and grandmother of the 25-year-old were charged with aiding and abetting, with the grandmother placed under arrest. None of the detained women have admitted to the charges.
