Police Intervene as Dozens of Ride-Sharing Cars Block Warsaw Street

Police intervened on Warsaw’s Bogatki Street Wednesday evening after dozens of ride-sharing drivers illegally parked, blocking traffic.

Police Intervention

On Wednesday evening after 6 PM, police intervened on Bogatki Street near the intersection with Puławska in Ursynów district against dozens of ride-sharing drivers who had parked on the roadway, effectively blocking traffic.

Approximately 40 officers from the Police Prevention Units were present. The controls they conducted primarily involved verifying the legal status of foreign nationals’ stays in Poland.

Several traffic crews were also dispatched to quickly identify any violations related to the vehicles used and to address the improper parking that had blocked Bogatki Street.

Traffic Disruptions

The intervention also caused disruptions on Puławska Street, but according to on-site observations, these mainly resulted from passing drivers slowing down to observe the police activities.

Approximately 20 patrol vehicles were involved in the operation.

Background to the Action

Such actions are partly a response to recent incidents where ride-sharing drivers have been aggressive, often staying illegally in the country, and sometimes turning out to be ordinary criminals, as recently occurred at a gas station near the intersection of Aleja Solidarności and Leszno Street.

Ongoing Controls

The control measures are still ongoing. Police are allowing local residents to pass through the area, but minor disruptions should be expected. The number of fines issued and the results of the control investigations are not yet known, but will be presented once the police conclude their intervention and release its findings.
