Otwock police officers from the Economic Crime and Corruption Fighting Department, alongside officers from the Mazowieckie Customs and Tax Office in Warsaw, closed another illegal gambling salon in Otwock. They secured 6 slot machines without required permits and nearly 14,000 PLN in cash. A 38-year-old woman employed at the venue was interrogated after being found on site during the operation.
Continued Crackdown on Illegal Gambling
Otwock police appointed to fight economic crime and corruption are conducting intensive operations against illegal gambling in the county. These actions, often described as strikes against economic crime, have resulted in the seizure of slot machines and the closure of illegal gambling halls.
Evidence of Illegal Activity
Last week, acting with tax officials, police entered a previously identified location suspected of hosting illegal gambling. Officers secured 6 unlicensed machines and nearly 14,000 PLN intended for paying out winnings. Customs officials conducted procedural experiments on the machines, confirming they were used for illegal activities.
Legal Consequences
The machines were transferred to the Warsaw Customs and Tax Office for further proceedings under the supervision of the Otwock District Prosecutor’s Office. Equipment and venue owners now face financial penalties of up to 100,000 PLN per machine, while those organizing illegal gambling games may face fines and imprisonment of up to 3 years, or both penalties combined.

Police officials do not rule out further inspections in the Otwock county as they continue their crackdown on illegal gambling operations.
