TV Republika director Tomasz Sakiewicz claims police forcibly entered his residence and handcuffed his assistant without a warrant, citing a series of alleged false emergency reports targeting the station’s staff.
Police Intervention at Sakiewicz’s Residence
Tomasz Sakiewicz reported that police broke into his home under the pretense that a child was in danger. He alleged that officers behaved like “bandits,” searching his premises without a warrant and violating journalistic privilege, as his home serves as a registered business location.
Sakiewicz stated that his assistant was handcuffed for allegedly interfering with the intervention, though he himself was not detained. The assistant was released shortly after the officers departed.
Allegations of Targeted Harassment
Sakiewicz characterized the event as the third unusual police intervention at his home in less than 24 hours. He described the situation as part of a larger, coordinated campaign to intimidate and dismantle TV Republika.
Michał Rachoń, the station’s programming director, confirmed that over a dozen false reports concerning station employees have been filed recently. These reports involved claims of physical assault, property damage, and life-threatening emergencies.
Sophisticated Coordinated Attacks
According to Rachoń and Sakiewicz, the callers have targeted private addresses, production studios, and accounting offices using information that is not publicly available. They suggest the perpetrators are well-organized and possess access to confidential personal data.
The Metropolitan Police Command has indicated that an official statement regarding these incidents will be issued in due course.
