Police Refute Allegations Following Wiktorska Street Intervention

Warsaw police have formally denied reports broadcast by TV Republika regarding an intervention at the home of editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz, stating the operation was a response to a false threat report.

Police statement on Warsaw intervention

The Warsaw II District Police Headquarters has issued a firm denial regarding claims made on TV Republika concerning an intervention at a property on Wiktorska Street. The station had previously reported that police forcibly entered the home of editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz, allegedly handcuffing his assistant under the pretext of an emergency involving a child.

Emergency response to a false threat

Authorities clarified that officers were dispatched on Friday following a report that an individual at the address was behaving in a way that posed an immediate threat to their life. The police designated this report as the highest priority, necessitating an immediate patrol response.

Conduct during the search

Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman who refused to identify herself or cooperate. For the safety of all parties involved, police applied handcuffs to the individual while the situation was assessed. Officers ultimately determined that the initial report of a life-threatening situation was false and likely intended to mislead emergency services.

Official government response

Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński addressed the matter, emphasizing that state services respond professionally to all incoming alerts. He stated that the intervention was not related to the media station’s activities, but was a specific response to formal threats reported to the authorities.
