Police Rescues Six‑Week‑Old Baby in Dramatic Augustow Incident

Police officers in Augustow, Poland, rescued a six‑week‑old infant from near‑fatal asystole after a distraught mother rushed to them on the street.

Dramatic Street Scene

A neighborhood patrol officer was walking a street in Augustow when a desperate woman sprinted toward him, clutching her six‑week‑old daughter, who had stopped breathing and was turning blue.

The officer immediately alerted the duty officer, called emergency services, and began administering aid.

Fight for Life

The infant’s face and exposed chest turned cyanotic; the officer placed the baby on his forearm and struck between the shoulder blades several times, attempting to clear the airway.

When other officers arrived, they performed CPR. Chest compressions proved effective, restoring circulation and the baby’s breathing.

Child Transported to Hospital

When the infant began moving limbs and her skin regained color, the officers handed her over to the dispatched medical rescue team.

The child was taken to the hospital for observation.
