On Tuesday 11 November, Warsaw police secured events celebrating Independence Day. The largest mobilisation focused on the Independence March that moved through Dmowska Street to the National Stadium. Police spokesperson Robert Szumiata said 40 people were detained, including drug possession offences. Some of those arrested were persons on wanted lists.

Warsaw: 91 Individuals Seized 820 Fireworks

A separate operation saw 91 people apprehended and more than 820 pieces of fireworks seized at the ceremony. The Mazovian Voivode had issued a ban on fireworks throughout Warsaw on 11 November, which was breached by several march participants. Police seized rockets, firecrackers and stun bangs, and are analysing video footage to identify offenders, who will face punishment.

Interventions Regarding Banner Slogans

Police intervened twice over slogans displayed on banners brought by event participants. The individuals were validated, and documentation will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office to determine if a crime occurred.

Incident Near U.S. Consulate

On Tuesday, a pyrotechnic rocket was thrown over the fence of the U.S. consulate on Piękna Street in Warsaw, landing on the building’s steps. No damage or injuries were reported. Police have launched an investigation and await an official statement from the U.S. embassy. The Director of the Capital Security Center, Jarosław Misztal, noted the incident was unrelated to the Independence March and that the rocket was fired by a participant of an anti‑government counter‑demonstration organized by a far‑left group.
