Prosecutor’s Investigation
Pruszkowski District Prosecutor’s Office is conducting proceedings regarding an attempted burglary and theft of a car at the Janki Shopping Center parking lot. The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, and the suspects were detained at the scene by police officers.
According to spokesperson for the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, “The Pruszkowski District Prosecutor’s Office is supervising investigation 4310-5.Ds.3.2026 into the attempted theft by burglary on January 3, 2026, at the Janki Shopping Center parking lot of a Mitsubishi Outlander worth approximately 90,000 zł, but the intended goal was not achieved due to the arrest of the perpetrators by Police officers.”
Police Intervention
According to information obtained by the editorial office, the theft was thwarted by officers from the Police Prevention Units, who were surprised by the behavior of men in the shopping center parking lot in the middle of the night. Additionally, an Audi car was revealed, which the thieves had used to come to the theft scene and after the unsuccessful attempt, returned with a tow truck to transport the vehicle.
Stolen Tow Truck
According to information provided by the prosecutor’s office, the perpetrators were traveling in a tow truck. The spokesperson pointed out: “The perpetrators were traveling in a Mercedes Sprinter tow truck, stolen with burglary, with license plates from another vehicle mounted.”
Charges Filed
In this case, two suspects were detained. As stated in the communication, they were presented with three charges: under Article 306c paragraph 2 of the Penal Code, under Article 13 paragraph 1 of the Penal Code in connection with Article 279 paragraph 1 of the Penal Code, and under Article 291 paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.
Custody Decision
The prosecutor filed requests with the Pruszkowski District Court for the application of preventive measures in the form of temporary detention against both suspects. Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba stated: “The court, by decision of January 6, 2026, applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary detention for a period of 3 months against the suspect Dawid J., while for the second perpetrator, Erik G., the court did not grant this request.” The communication also emphasized: “The prosecutor disagreed with this court decision, appealing it to the court of second instance.”

The proceedings are ongoing. As indicated in the information provided by the prosecutor’s office, “The proceedings remain ongoing, further evidentiary actions will be carried out in this case.”
