Fifteen MPs and three senators left Poland 2050 Wednesday to form new “Centrum” club, as remaining members blame “greed and stupidity” for the split.
Mass Resignation
On Wednesday, a group of fifteen MPs and three senators left the Poland 2050 party and its parliamentary club. They established a new parliamentary club named “Centrum”. Notable defectors include Minister Hennig-Kloska, Ryszard Petru, Mirosław Suchoń, Ewa Szymanowska, Barbara Oliwiecka, Barbara Okuła, Norbert Pietrykowski, Elżbieta Burkiewicz, and Aleksandra Leo.
Remaining Members’ Criticism
MPs staying with Poland 2050 expressed regret over the departure. Adam Luboński was critical: “It’s a shame Poland 2050 was torn apart by greed and stupidity. But it’s difficult. We are staying, I am loyal to Szymon Hołownia. As long as Szymon doesn’t say we’re leaving the ship, I stay on this ship,” he stated. Luboński also accused the departing MPs, including Elżbieta Burkiewicz, of becoming “tools in Paulina Hennig-Kloska’s war”.
Łukasz Osmalak commented: “I hoped we could still talk and put it all back together… I personally sincerely regret that it ends this way.”
Party’s Future
Both Osmalak and Luboński believe the Poland 2050 parliamentary club will survive in its current form without further departures. “I don’t see in the group that remained in the parliamentary club any people with internal conflicts that could cause further tensions,” Osmalak stated. Luboński added: “This is a tough team that has endured all these blows, including the false narrative that Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz or Szymon Hołownia would break the Coalition on October 15th. It was solely to divert attention from the fact that Paulina Hennig-Kloska couldn’t accept defeat.”
