The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) is probing the theft of a Lexus belonging to the family of former Prime Minister Donald Tusk, with suspicions of a potential second agenda.
Unusual Circumstances of the Theft
The Lexus, belonging to Tusk’s family, was stolen on the night of September 9-10, about 200 meters from the family’s residence in Sopot. The vehicle was later found abandoned on a parking lot approximately 20 kilometers away.
The circumstances of the theft are unusual, as the thieves seemed to have knowledge of the vehicle’s ownership and did not attempt to sell or dismantle it, which is typical in such cases.
Investigation and Suspect
The ABW has arrested a 41-year-old man, Łukasz W., suspected of the theft. Despite his previous convictions for fraud, bodily harm, and drunk driving, he does not appear to be connected to car theft rings.
The suspect attempted to flee to Bulgaria by plane, which experts consider a high-risk escape route due to thorough passenger checks at airports.
Theft and Possible Motives
The investigation suggests that the theft may have been part of a larger operation, with Łukasz W. possibly being a mere “puppet” in the scheme.
Speculations include the possibility of installing eavesdropping devices, planting explosives, or compromising the security services protecting Tusk’s family.
