Bank Ochrony Środowiska (BOŚ) has launched a revolving credit line for installers participating in Poland’s “Czyste Powietrze” (Clean Air) program to support liquidity and project completion.
Supporting the Clean Air Program
Approximately 2.5 million outdated, polluting stoves – known as “kopciuchy” – are still in use in Poland, significantly contributing to smog and negatively impacting public health. The pace of replacing these inefficient heating devices depends not only on homeowner interest but also on the availability of qualified installation companies.
New Credit Line for Installers
To address this, BOŚ has introduced a revolving credit line within a credit account specifically for installers working on projects under the Czyste Powietrze program. This tool aims to help installation companies maintain cash flow, accept more orders, and efficiently settle ecological projects.
The Role of Financial Institutions
Michał Należyty, Vice President of the Management Board of BOŚ, discusses the role of financial institutions in the country’s energy transformation. He emphasizes that professional installers are crucial in translating beneficiary decisions into tangible investments like heat pumps, low-emission boilers, building insulation, and “kopciuch” replacements.
Addressing Installer Cash Flow Challenges
Installers often manage multiple projects simultaneously, and the time difference between project completion and program reimbursement requires careful cash flow management. The new credit line supports installers in managing their current liquidity while working on several projects concurrently, allowing them to focus on high-quality installations, timely project completion, scaling operations, and serving more beneficiaries.
Key Features of the New Credit
The credit is a renewable, purpose-driven product with terms linked to project launch and repayment. BOŚ views supporting ecological investments as essential to its mission of promoting responsible and sustainable development and actively contributing to environmental protection.
BOŚ’s Commitment to Environmental Investment
BOŚ recognizes its significant role in economic and social processes. Investments in replacing stoves, insulating buildings, and installing heat pumps directly improve people’s quality of life, and the bank aims to support such projects through tailored financial products.
Banks’ Role in Reducing Smog
Smog remains a major problem in Poland, requiring a systemic, multi-faceted solution. Banks can incentivize ecological investments, facilitate building modernization financing, and introduce preferential environmental protection products. The new credit line is one such tool accelerating emissions reduction.
Future Products and the “Złoty Bankier” Award
BOŚ plans to develop further products supporting ecological investments for both individuals and businesses, aiming for a comprehensive green financing offering. Receiving the “Złoty Bankier 2026” award for the installer credit line validates the bank’s direction and will drive intensified work on new solutions, increased financing accessibility, expanded cooperation with SMEs, and greater engagement in low-emission projects.
Long-Term Strategy and National Climate Goals
BOŚ’s long-term strategy prioritizes being the financial institution of choice for environmental support. The awarded credit aligns with the bank’s vision of integrating environmental and financial goals, contributing to national climate targets.
