Polish Charity WOŚP Raises Over 183 Million Złoty in Annual Fundraiser

The 34th annual Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) fundraiser concluded on March 30th, raising 183,231,782 złoty for pediatric gastroenterology.

WOŚP 2024 Final Results

The final amount raised in this year’s WOŚP fundraiser was 183,231,782 złoty, as announced by Jerzy Owsiak during a press conference on Monday, March 30th.

Last year, WOŚP collected 289,068,047.77 złoty. The declared amount at the end of last year’s final was 178,531,625 złoty.

Fundraising Focus: Pediatric Gastroenterology

WOŚP’s fundraising efforts this year were dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in children.

Equipment Purchases and Future Plans

Jerzy Owsiak stated during the press conference in Warsaw that the funds raised will ensure the best possible equipment for gastroenterology departments. Four crucial devices, previously unavailable in Polish hospitals, have already been purchased.

Expert Consultation Prior to Focus Selection

Before the 34th WOŚP final, Jerzy Owsiak emphasized that the decision regarding the focus of the fundraiser followed consultations with experts and doctors.

Professor Jarosław Kierkuś from the Institute of Health of the Child in Warsaw, a specialist in pediatric gastroenterology, explained the current state of healthcare in this area, noting that between 1.2 and 1.5 million children in Poland require treatment for gastrointestinal diseases.
