Polish Consulate in Brussels Attacked with Red Paint and Offensive Slogans

The Polish consulate in Brussels was sprayed with red paint and marked with offensive slogans and littered with trash in an early‑Thursday incident that investigators trace to a small masked group.

Damage to the Consular Section

The building’s façade was painted in red and displayed English and Polish offensive slogans, including the words “killers” on the front plaque and a vulgar phrase on the wall that translates to “damn the wall.” Trash was scattered in front of the entrance, severely disrupting ordinary operations.

Early‑Thursday Incident

At dawn on Thursday, video footage from security cameras shows three to four masked individuals vandalising the consulate. The group recorded the entire event on their phones, capturing the spray paint and vandalised signs.

Police Investigation

The Belgian police are leading the investigation. The local municipality of Etterbeek provided a specialised cleaning crew to restore the damaged areas. After the cleanup, the consulate reports that little trace of the vandalism remains.

Community Response

Etterbeek residents assisted by dispatching a professional cleaning team to clear the litter and remove the paint, demonstrating local solidarity in the face of the attack.

Possible Political Motive

Consular staff suspect the incident may reflect rising political tensions and view it as a possible Russian provocation. The phrase “damn the wall” reportedly refers to the border wall with Belarus and serves as a protest against Frontex, the EU border‑control agency headquartered in Poland.
