Poland’s National Bank (NBP) received the International Bank Note Society’s (IBNS) award for its “Millennium of Bolesław Chrobry’s Coronation” 20 złoty banknote on March 26.
Award for Polish Banknote
The “Millennium of Bolesław Chrobry’s Coronation” banknote has been recognized as the Best Commemorative Banknote of 2025 by the International Bank Note Society (IBNS).
NBP President Professor Adam Glapiński accepted the award from IBNS representatives.
Competition Details
The Polish banknote competed against nominations from central banks in Turkmenistan, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Botswana, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka.
From December 15 to 29, 2025, collectors and enthusiasts worldwide voted for the most original and attractive banknote, with the NBP’s submission receiving the most votes.
Banknote Release and Background
The National Bank of Poland released the “Millennium of Bolesław Chrobry’s Coronation” banknote on November 5, 2025. This follows previous commemorative coin releases marking the millennium of the coronation.
