Polish Court Overturns Acquittal in Ewa Tylman Murder Case

A Polish appeals court overturned the acquittal of Adam Z. in the 2015 death of Ewa Tylman, sending the case back for a fourth trial in Poznań.

Ewa Tylman’s Death and Initial Investigation

Ewa Tylman disappeared in November 2015, and her body was recovered from the Warta River months later. Forensic experts were unable to definitively determine the cause of death due to the advanced state of decomposition.

Prosecutors allege that on November 23, 2015, Adam Z. pushed Ewa Tylman from an embankment and then disposed of her body while she was unconscious. He is accused of murder with eventual intent, a crime punishable by life imprisonment.

Repeated Trials and Appeals

The Poznań District Court has previously acquitted Adam Z. three times. The first two verdicts were also overturned by the appeals court, resulting in the case being sent back for re-examination.

Recent Court Decision

On Tuesday, the Poznań Court of Appeal overturned the latest acquittal of Adam Z. regarding the charge of murdering Ewa Tylman. The case has been returned to the District Court for a fourth trial.

The appeals court’s ruling is final and binding.

Family’s Distress

Andrzej Tylman, Ewa’s father, expressed his frustration with the prolonged legal proceedings, stating the case has negatively impacted his family’s health and well-being after losing their daughter ten years ago.
