Sunday Incident: A Drunk Driver Spotted by Police

A police officer from the Żyrardów County Police Command was off duty on Sunday, November 9 when she noticed a drunk driver on the road.

Skoda Slalom and Officer’s Intervention

The 38‑year‑old Ukrainian driver was behind the wheel of a Skoda, forcing the officer to yield and then weaving across the road. When the officer attempted to stop him, he accelerated past a pedestrian crossing and fled, prompting the traffic patrol to intervene.

Testimony and Legal Outcome

Authorities found the driver with more than 2 promille of alcohol in his bloodstream, a result confirmed by a sobriety test. He was taken to a police cell and later fined 12 100 PLN, assigned 80 penalty points, and had his licence suspended. The criminal code allows up to three years’ imprisonment, a ban on driving and a high fine for such conduct.
