A 33‑year‑old Polish driver received a one‑year prison sentence less than 30 hours after being arrested in Przysucha for drunk driving while under a lifetime driving ban.
Police Stop in Przysucha
Police from the Patrol and Intervention Team seized a Chevrolet driven by a 33‑year‑old resident of the Przysucha County on Sunday, 21 December. The stop was triggered by the driver’s failure to activate his headlights.
Alleged DUI and Lifetime Ban
At the roadside inspection, officers found the driver had 1‰ alcohol in his blood. Police records also revealed that both the driver and a 47‑year‑old passenger had suspended licences. The driver had been under a lifetime ban on driving mechanical vehicles since December 2016.
Arrest and Pre‑trial Hearing
The driver was taken into accelerated arrest and led to the County Police Headquarters in Przysucha, where he was kept in a police cell. The following day, he faced charges of driving under the influence during a period of prohibited driving.
Court Ruling and Penalties
About 30 hours after his arrest, the man was brought to court and sentenced to one year in prison. The court also imposed a 15,000‑złotych victim‑compensation payment, a 4,000‑złotych forfeiture equal to the vehicle’s value, and ordered the defendant to cover court costs.
