On December 25, Polish fighters intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over international waters of the Baltic Sea and escorted it away from Polish airspace.
Intercept over the Baltic Sea
The Polish Air Defence Command reported that a Russian Federation reconnaissance plane flew near the borders of Polish airspace and was intercepted over the international waters of the Baltic Sea. Polish fighters identified and escorted the aircraft out of Polish responsibility zone.
Smuggling balloons from Belarus detected
Military radar systems spotted objects entering Polish airspace during the night, identified as smuggling balloons arriving from Belarus with the wind. To ensure safety, the airspace over Podlaskie Voivodeship was temporarily closed to aircraft use.
Military maintains constant contact
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces stays in continuous contact with relevant services, exchanging information and providing necessary data on the observed objects. No threat to Polish airspace security has been determined.
