On December 4, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski denounced Russia’s aggression at an OSCE meeting, prompting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Gruszko to label Poland’s response a propaganda campaign.
Polish Foreign Minister Criticises Russia
During the OSCE Ministerial Council session on December 4, Radosław Sikorski said “Today’s Russia is more aggressive than the Soviet Union of the 1970s,” adding that Russia is shifting from democracy toward totalitarianism and moving from coexistence to aggression. He also showed photographs of Russian drones that, he claimed, had violated Polish airspace.
Russian Deputy Labels Poland’s Actions “Propaganda”
Alexander Gruszko responded by stating that Poland’s approach to such incidents is part of a “campaign to demonize Russia,” a strategy intended to pressure the Russian Federation and to prepare the Polish public for hybrid war allegedly initiated by the West.
Allegations of War Preparation
Gruszko warned that “such informational‑propagandistic events play a key role in preparing society,” and that “preparations for war are already viewed as normal in European society.” He described these measures as dangerous because the public must be ready for a potential Russian attack at any moment.
Poland’s Call for Dialogue on UAVs
Gruszko asserted that Russia is ready for a substantive discussion about unmanned aerial vehicles on Polish territory. He cited a Foreign Ministry statement that, if Poland found military channels inadequate, the ministry could intervene. Gruszko criticized Poland’s haste to Brussels to activate Article 4, calling the action “unprofessional” and accusing Poland of waving “nonsense photographs of drones.”
