Polish Government Conducts Crisis Response Drills

The Polish government, including President Andrzej Duda, participated in mandatory crisis scenario training this week, replacing the usual Council of Ministers meeting.

Government Training Exercises Held

RMF FM reported that the training involved analyzing responses to various threats and was a mandatory exercise for government officials. Minister of Sport and Tourism Jakub Rutnicki confirmed the government held training on Tuesday, explaining the absence of the traditional Council of Ministers meeting.

“I can’t say too much about these exercises, but they are very important, coordinating various actions, with the entire government participating from early morning to late afternoon,” Rutnicki stated.

Presidential and Ministerial Participation

According to RMF FM, both government members and the President participated in the training. The station reported that the exercises included considering potential state responses to different types of threats.

Secret Location and War Scenario Speculation

TVN24 journalists, citing sources within the government, reported participants were transported to a classified location near Warsaw to practice crisis management procedures, including a scenario related to a state of war. However, this specific aspect was not officially confirmed by any source, with officials citing information secrecy.

Presidential Chancellery staff reportedly responded to inquiries about the President’s location by stating they “did not know.”

Defense Act and Information Secrecy

Government Spokesman Adam Szłapka, responding to PAP inquiries, stated the exercises were conducted in accordance with the Act on Homeland Defense, confirming earlier reports. Sources cited this law as the reason for the cancellation of Tuesday’s government meeting.

Neither the Presidential Chancellery nor the government has released details regarding the location, specifics of the training, or the extent of individual participation. Media outlets anticipate no further official information will be released, with only confirmation that government members participated in important coordination exercises.
