Polish Government Reconstruction Rumors Swirl, Party Vows to Defend Culture Minister

Reports of a potential government reshuffle in Poland have emerged, with the future of several ministers uncertain, prompting strong defense from coalition partners.

Initial Reports of Potential Ministerial Changes

Radio RMF FM reported unofficially on Thursday that government changes could occur before the summer break. The station’s reporter indicated that Minister of Culture and National Heritage Marta Cienkowska of Poland2050 might be among those affected. The positions of Minister of Health Jolanta Sobierańska-Grendy and Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka were also reported as potentially unstable.

Poland2050 Denies Planned Changes

Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, chairwoman of Poland2050, stated in a communication to party members that no changes are planned within the ministers recommended by Poland2050. She emphasized that any changes to ministers from a coalition party without that party’s consent would be equivalent to breaking the coalition agreement, and therefore impossible.

Prime Minister Tusk Dismisses Reconstruction Talk

“I don’t know where this rumor came from,” stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Friday morning. “I know that some media outlets have started writing about my ambitious plans for another government reconstruction, but no, I do not have such plans at this time.”

Poland2050 Vows to Defend Cienkowska

The head of the Poland2050 club stated they would defend Cienkowska “like independence.”

Continued Loyalty and Ministerial Support

Paweł Śliz, head of the Poland2050 club, stated on Saturday in RMF FM that they remain in government and a loyal coalition partner of the October 15th coalition. He confirmed that no discussions regarding changes within the government involving ministers from Poland2050 have taken place.

Commitment to Supporting Ministers

Śliz added that the party would defend its ministers who are performing well, including Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz (Minister of Funds and Regional Policy) and Marta Cienkowska. He also highlighted the hard work of numerous deputy ministers within the government.
