Polish Housing Market: More Apartments, Smaller Sizes

Poland recorded nearly 209,000 apartments completed last year, with smaller average sizes despite increased construction starts.

Rising Numbers, Shrinking Spaces

Poland recorded nearly 209,000 apartments put into use last year, marking the seventh consecutive year with over 200,000 completions. This represents a 4% increase from the previous year.

The total usable area of newly built homes reached 18.2 million square meters, growing by 1.8% year-on-year.

Average Size Decline

The average apartment size decreased to 87.0 square meters, reflecting a trend toward smaller living spaces in the Polish housing market.

Future Market Outlook

Construction permits issued for new buildings dropped by more than 25% compared to the previous year, reaching the lowest level since 2016.

However, construction starts increased by nearly 14% to almost 266,000 units, suggesting potential market shifts ahead.
