Investigators have identified the suspects as 41‑year‑old Jewhienij Iwanow and 39‑year‑old Oleksandr Kononow.
Operation Details and Alleged Russian Connection
According to investigative findings, the operation was to be quick and precisely planned. The men were in Poland for only a few hours, reportedly tasked with a sabotage on railway lines under a Russian contract. Prosecutors have charged them with acts of sabotage of a terrorist character.
Backgrounds of the Suspects
Iwanow, who is said to have been recruited no later than January 2024 and comes from the Kharkiv region, previously participated in sabotage at a drone‑producing plant in Lviv.
