Polish Lawmaker Clashes with Journalist Over Meeting with Pro-Russian Congresswoman

Polish MEP Patryk Jaki engaged in a heated exchange with a veteran journalist after meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who has been criticized for her pro-Russian ties.

Jaki’s Visit to USA and Meetings with Congress Members

Polish MEP Patryk Jaki announced on Friday evening, February 6th, that he met with U.S. Congress members who “had recently signed letters regarding Poland.” “I presented our country as a safe and good place for investment that firmly holds Western values,” Jaki wrote on X. He stated that “we have temporary problems with the crypto-dictatorship, but Poland has overcome worse problems before.” He tagged Anna Paulina Luna, Andy Harris, Warren Davidson, and Jim Jordan. All these Congressional representatives are members of the Republican Party.

Polish Radio Journalist Comments on Jaki’s Meetings

Mark Wałkuski, a long-time Polish Radio correspondent in the United States, drew attention to the first of these individuals – Anna Paulina Luna – in his post on X. “Luna is considered the most pro-Russian member of Congress. She promotes cooperation with the Russian Duma, and recently met with a Kremlin advisor, Kirill Dmitriev, from whom she accepted chocolates with Putin quotes. She also invited the Russian ambassador to Congress as her guest. A few weeks ago, she organized a cake-cutting in the shape of Greenland in the colors of the U.S.,” the journalist listed the congresswoman’s activities.

The Polish opposition politician responded to the journalist. “And you are one of the dumbest journalists from an illegal television station. I also met with many other members of Congress. If I had to exclude those who met with someone from Russia, I would have to stop going to the European Union headquarters. Stop talking to anyone from the current and previous U.S. administrations. Not to mention representatives of the Polish crypto-dictatorship who personally met with Putin and Lavrov,” Jaki wrote.
