Literary manager Katarzyna Stoparczyk, 45, died Friday in a car crash on the S19 expressway in Jeżów, Poland after just finalizing arrangements for a fundraising event for musicians affected by the 2010 Kłodzka Valley floods.

Stoparczyk was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle near a rest stop where they were subsequently both pronounced dead. A spokesperson for the Nisko County Fire Department stated that three people were seriously injured, while two passengers involved died on the scene.

The tragedy occurred shortly after 3 PM local time in the Podkarpackie region. Stoparczyk had been in communication with colleagues at the Literature Office just minutes before the accident, specifically discussing her participation in a Culture Ministry event later this year.

“In her last message, at 2:39 PM, she wrote: ‘I’m going to make sure everything is perfect.’ No one perfected that like Kasia.” Her agency, the Literature Office, noted that Stoparczyk had been tightly involved in numerous artistic projects and events across Poland over the past 15 years.
