Polish LOT Plane Veers Off Taxiway at Vilnius Airport

On Wednesday, November 26 2025, a LOT Embraer 170 flying flight LO771 from Warsaw to Vilnius left the hard‑surfaced taxiway at Vilnius airport, prompting a temporary runway closure.

Incident Details

The aircraft landed at Vilnius airport at 13:43 local time (12:43 Polish time). According to Lithuanian port authority spokesman Tadas Vasiliauskas, the plane moved off the paved surface while taxiing toward a parking apron after touchdown.

Airport Response

The runway was closed until at least 17:00 local time (16:00 Polish time). This shutdown caused multi‑hour interruptions to departures and arrivals, requiring diversions or cancellations of some flights.

Flight and Passenger Impact

No one on board—63 passengers and a four‑person crew—was injured. All passengers disembarked normally using steps and were then taken to the terminal by buses.

Investigation and Operational Updates

LOT’s spokesperson Krzysztof Moczulski confirmed that the aircraft, registered SP‑LDK, was undergoing a normal Warsaw–Vilnius service. Technical teams, together with Vilnius airport operators, are assessing the aircraft and runway condition; the plane will remain out of service until the investigation concludes. The return flight LO772 scheduled for the same day was cancelled, and the airline will update passengers via its information channels.
