Polish Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Murder of 71‑Year‑Old Developer

A 48‑year‑old man was arrested in Kobyłka for kidnapping and killing a 71‑year‑old developer, after a ransom demand of 500,000 zloty, authorities say.

The Phone Call

On 19 December at 13:04, Adam N.’s phone rang with a caller number. The caller, speaking in a low voice, demanded that the family pay 500,000 zloty for the return of the victim by midnight.

The conversation lasted twenty seconds. The caller claimed the father would be “on Christmas Eve” if payment was made, giving four hours to comply.

The Ransom Demand

Three hours later, the family received another call. The new caller asked, “Do you have money?” and repeated the ransom demand. Conversations were monitored and recorded by police officers.

The family offered only 87,000 zloty, far below the required amount, after which the suspect instructed them on where to leave the money.

The Kidnapping

That evening, a Honda Civic belonging to Tomasz N. was found on Niski Street in Kobyłka, keys placed under the windshield wiper. The victim had disappeared that day.

Police Intervention

Investigators from the Warsaw Metropolitan Police, the Central Criminal Investigations Office and the District Prosecutor’s Office began an extensive search. Surveillance footage and intercepted calls were analyzed.

The suspect, Andrzej K., 48, was apprehended on 14 January after a series of interrogations that highlighted his inconsistent statements.

Suspect’s Confessions

During questioning, the suspect offered multiple, conflicting explanations for the kidnapping, some involving an alleged Ukrainian accomplice. Each version was later withdrawn.

He admitted to holding the father captive for ransom, but denied any involvement in a subsequent murder.

Trial and Sentencing

In September 2025, the Court condemned Andrzej K. to life imprisonment. The judge found no mitigating circumstances, noting repeated lies, lack of remorse, and the deliberate planning of violence.
