A 54-year-old Polish man died after falling approximately 200 meters into Batyżowiecka Valley in the High Tatra Mountains. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, with the man part of a group of Polish climbers.

Rescue efforts and aftermath

Rescue teams were dispatched by air in cooperation with the VZZS (Air Rescue Service). Despite their efforts, the man had sustained fatal injuries, and doctors could only confirm his death. His body was transported to the valley’s mouth and handed over to the Slovak Armed Forces.

Three other Polish citizens, who were unable to continue their climb, also requested assistance. They were evacuated by air to the town of Stary Smokowiec.
