Polish Meteorologists Issue Storm Warnings for Southeast and East

Meteorologists warn of heavy thunderstorms and significant rainfall in southeast and eastern Poland affecting parts of Małopolskie and Podkarpackie regions.

Thunderstorm Alerts Issued

Meteorological warnings were issued by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) on Tuesday. These warnings apply to southern and eastern parts of Poland, with 45 liters of rain expected to fall per square meter in some areas of the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie regions. Wind gusts could reach up to 70 km/h, with the possibility of hail in some localities.

Affected Regions

FIRST-DEGREE ALERTS have been issued for: Śląskie, Małopolskie, Podkarpackie, Mazowieckie, Podlaskie, and Lubelskie regions, affecting numerous cities and towns. SECOND-DEGREE ALERTS specifically target the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie regions.

Impact of the Storms

The storms have caused flooding and power outages in several areas, leading to around 400 emergency responses. Most interventions were in Kraków, with 243 incidents reported. Forest services have responded to downed trees and damaged branches, as well as addressing flooded properties and roads.
