Polish Military Denies Claims of Airspace Use for Offensive Operations

The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command refuted allegations that Polish airspace was provided for offensive actions against Russia, responding to claims made by a politician.

Military Command Rejects False Reports

Operational Command’s Commander, Lieutenant General Maciej Klisz, issued a statement on Tuesday, March 31st, addressing inaccurate information circulating publicly. General Klisz “emphatically stressed” that claims regarding the alleged provision of Polish airspace for offensive operations against the Russian Federation are entirely false and lack factual basis.

The Operational Command is actively countering the spread of fake news concerning the use of Polish airspace.

Defensive Measures and Airspace Restrictions

The military clarified that recent actions are solely defensive and aimed at ensuring the security of the state. Temporary restrictions on air traffic were not implemented in March 2026, but rather in September 2025, following numerous violations of Polish airspace by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.

These decisions are purely preventative, designed to protect the lives and health of citizens and the security of state infrastructure.

Eastern Poland Airspace Zone

From March 10th to June 9th, 2026, a restricted airspace zone EP R130 has been established in eastern Poland, extending from ground level to approximately three kilometers in altitude. This zone does not affect passenger aircraft flying at higher altitudes.

The zone features a near-total flight ban at night (with exceptions for military and coordinated operations), and limited flights are permitted during the day, subject to specific conditions and equipment requirements. The restrictions replace the previous EPR129 zone and are preventative measures related to state security, according to the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.

Response to Confederation Crown of Poland Politician

General Klisz’s statement was a response, among other things, to statements made by Włodzimierz Skalik of the Confederation Crown of Poland, who suggested that Polish airspace had been made available for offensive operations against Russia.

Skalik wrote on X: “Experts unequivocally state that Polish authorities consciously allocated and made available Polish airspace for Ukraine to carry out drone attacks on oil infrastructure in the Leningrad region and on Russian ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk. Stop warmongers!”

Cooperation and Prioritization of Citizen Safety

The Operational Command of the Armed Forces emphasized that all actions are conducted responsibly and in close cooperation with national institutions and allies. It also stated that insinuations regarding offensive objectives are unfounded and mislead the public.

General Klisz assured that the safety of Polish citizens remains the highest priority of the armed forces.
