Balloon-Like Objects Detected in Polish Airspace

The Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches published a communication on Monday, February 9, 2026. During the night from February 8 to 9, military radar systems recorded flights into Polish airspace of objects resembling balloons.

The objects were continuously identified and remained under surveillance by military reconnaissance systems. The situation was fully under control and did not pose a threat to aviation safety or the security of Polish citizens.

Armed Forces Maintain Full Readiness

The communication emphasized that the Polish armed forces maintain 24-hour operational readiness in the protection of airspace. The military, acting in accordance with existing procedures, cooperates with services responsible for state security.

They continuously provide necessary information enabling a quick response, including the seizure of objects and the detention of persons suspected of involvement in these incidents.

War in Ukraine: Polish Command’s Response to Russian Attacks

On Saturday, Polish command reported on actions taken in response to Russian attacks in Ukraine. In connection with the activity of Russian long-range aviation carrying out strikes on Ukrainian territory, military aviation began operating in Polish airspace.

Following existing procedures, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces activated necessary forces and means. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems achieved a state of readiness.

After several hours, it was reported that these actions had been completed.
