On March 7, Polish Law and Justice MP Dariusz Matecki was arrested by ABW officers, and prosecutors have filed six charges, including an alleged 16.5 million‑zloty embezzlement from the Justice Fund.
Charges Overview
Prosecutors have brought six accusations against Matecki. Four of these relate to the Justice Fund, while the remaining two involve alleged false employment and unauthorized benefits.
Justice Fund Misappropriation
Investigators allege that Matecki colluded to divert more than 16.5 million zloty from the Justice Fund. He denies any involvement in the alleged crimes.
Fake Employment in State Forests
The National Prosecutor’s Office also claims that Matecki was purportedly hired for a position in the State Forests, a job that “was not supposed to exist and was not performed.” He allegedly received 483 860 zloty in benefits from this arrangement.
New Indictment Expands to Eight Individuals
On October 30, TVN24 reported that the National Prosecutor’s Office will file an indictment against eight people, including Matecki, for the Justice Fund case. The indictment also names former health‑association president Mateusz W. and Adam S., president of Fidei Defensor and Przyjaciele Zdrowia. Adam S.’s family—Adrian K. and Piotr S.—had already been convicted earlier in October for money laundering and received suspended prison sentences. The prosecutor confirmed the indictment against all eight individuals.
