A Polish MP, Marek Suski, halted his questioning as a witness after claiming a heart attack upon the arrival of prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, triggering a medical response.
MP Suski’s Testimony Interrupted
The questioning of Marek Suski, a member of the Law and Justice party, was unexpectedly suspended Tuesday at the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. Suski, testifying as a witness, reported feeling unwell and suspected a heart attack when prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek entered the room.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but medical examinations did not confirm a heart attack. Suski left the prosecutor’s office independently, and the hearing was rescheduled for April 1st.
Case Background: Threats Against Prosecutor Wrzosek
The proceedings relate to a complaint filed by prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek regarding criminal threats allegedly made by Jacek Ozdoba, a Member of the European Parliament from Law and Justice. The investigation is being led by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnów.
Tense Exchange Preceded Medical Episode
According to Piotr Antoni Skiba, a spokesperson for the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office, the hearing was to be conducted via video conference. Suski and his legal representative were present, along with prosecutor Wrzosek as the injured party.
The prosecutor’s office reported a tense atmosphere: “The witness was surprised and shocked by the presence of the injured party. He raised his voice, referencing events from a year ago and the death of Barbara Skrzypek. He stated that, due to Ewa Wrzosek’s presence, he likely was having a heart attack, clutching his chest and saying he felt very ill. An ambulance was called.”
Suski attempted to leave before the ambulance arrived but was informed he needed to wait for the medical team. After examination, doctors found no signs of a heart attack.
Political Context: Skrzypek’s Death and Previous Confrontation
The case stems from events on March 17, 2025, when a press conference and demonstration by Law and Justice politicians took place outside the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. This was in response to the death of Barbara Skrzypek, a long-time aide to Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński.
During the demonstration, prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek approached the protesters, leading to a heated exchange captured on camera. Jacek Ozdoba was recorded saying he would “push” the prosecutor, with Marek Suski advising him to do so “gently.”
Following this incident, Wrzosek filed a complaint alleging criminal threats, leading to Suski’s summons as a witness.
Skrzypek’s Death and Subsequent Investigation
The background of the case also involves the events surrounding Barbara Skrzypek’s death. Skrzypek was questioned as a witness on March 12, 2025, in an investigation concerning the Srebrna company and the planned construction of two skyscrapers on a plot of land she owned in Warsaw. Prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek led the questioning.
Three days later, Skrzypek died of a heart attack. Some Law and Justice politicians suggested that stress related to the questioning may have contributed to her death, sparking political tensions. A separate investigation by the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office was closed in December 2025, concluding that Skrzypek’s death was due to a heart attack and there was no evidence of third-party involvement or a direct link to the legal proceedings.
Rescheduled Hearing
Due to Tuesday’s events, Marek Suski’s testimony was not taken. The prosecutor’s office has set a new date for the proceedings: April 1st. Suski is expected to appear again as a witness in the case concerning threats made against prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek.
