Polish Nationalist Bąkiewicz Loses Facebook Account, Calls for U.S. Envoy Response

Robert Bąkiewicz, former head of the Independence March association, reported losing his Facebook account on Monday, alleging censorship amid a political campaign.

Bąkiewicz’s Account Deletion

Robert Bąkiewicz announced on Monday, April 13th, that his Facebook account had been removed. The stated reason for the account’s deletion was “adult sexual exploitation.”

Account Size and Platform Disparity

Bąkiewicz’s Facebook page had approximately 180,000 followers. He claims that the same materials remain uncensored on the X platform.

Allegations of Political Interference

“They blocked me at a key moment of the #StopPAKT Campaign – collecting signatures for a citizen legislative initiative against illegal migration. Did the American corporation deliberately deprive me of contact with Poles in the middle of a legal, democratic initiative?” Bąkiewicz questioned on X.

Call for Response from U.S. Ambassador

Bąkiewicz is seeking a response from U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose.

Appeal to Trump Administration Stance

Bąkiewicz addressed the U.S. Ambassador, noting the Trump administration’s firm stance on border protection. He questioned why an American corporation would suppress free speech in Poland and undermine citizen actions aligned with U.S. government concerns.

Meta Contacted for Comment

Contact was made with Meta’s Polish branch regarding the matter, and a response is awaited.

Existing Legal Charges Against Bąkiewicz

Robert Bąkiewicz frequently faces scrutiny from investigators due to his activities. In early February, the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office announced charges against Bąkiewicz for publicly inciting the murder of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, publicly defaming a constitutional body, and inciting hatred based on national, ethnic, and racial grounds.

Incitement Allegations Detailed

The charges stem from a speech Bąkiewicz delivered during a PiS-organized demonstration under the slogan “STOP illegal immigration” in Castle Square, Warsaw. He spoke alongside members of the Border Defense Movement, who held paper scythes. He reportedly stated, “Do not be afraid of prosecutors, courts, these people will pay the price for it. And that road to Grunwald must be such that justice must prevail, that weeds must be uprooted from Polish soil and napalm thrown on that soil so that they never grow back.”

The offenses carry a potential prison sentence of up to three years and a fine.
