Two Polish men detained in Sweden on suspicion of photographing a nuclear plant in Oskarshamn have been formally charged, with a Geiger counter and other military gear recovered from their vehicle.
Swedish arrest on espionage charges
On Monday, 1 December, Swedish radio P4 Kalmar reported that two Poles were arrested for allegedly photographing a nuclear power plant on Sweden’s eastern coast. They were formally charged with espionage in March of this year.
Surprise contents of the suspects’ vehicle
While being detained by the plant’s security guard, the men introduced themselves as a father and son. One claimed to be a former head of the Polish police. Investigators found a Geiger counter for measuring background radiation, a Polish police identity card, rubber gloves, and a military cap bearing a Soviet emblem in the car.
Polish police issue warrants for railway disruptors
