During Friday’s meeting, the PKOl board effectively blocked an opposition motion to convene an Extraordinary General Assembly aimed at removing President Radosław Piesiewicz from his position despite substantial support.
Efforts to Block the Ouster
The motion to call an Extraordinary General Assembly, intended to vote on the dismissal of PKOl President Radosław Piesiewicz, was not officially processed during Friday’s board meeting. Krzysztof Wiłkomirski, president of the Polish Judo Association, confirmed that the formal document would be submitted to the secretariat in the coming days.
Wiłkomirski explained that President Piesiewicz, supported by the audit committee, successfully challenged the legitimacy and formal requirements of the motion during the “miscellaneous” agenda items. The board ultimately blocked the proposal from moving forward.
Support for the Motion
Wiłkomirski served as the coordinator for the signature collection campaign among PKOl members. To be successful, the motion required the approval and signatures of at least two-thirds of the assembly, totaling 71 entities.
The request successfully secured the support of 80 entities, consisting primarily of sports associations, but also including regional Olympic councils and other affiliated organizations. Despite this backing, the board proceedings stalled the move to address the leadership issue.
