Polish Parliament Erupts in Protest Over Protest Signs

Lawmakers from the PiS party were removed from Poland’s Sejm after displaying signs referencing the Prime Minister and a convicted pedophile case.

Protest in the Sejm

Matecki held a banner featuring a photo of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Kamila L., a former member of the Civic Coalition convicted in a pedophile case in Kłodzko. The banner also included the phrase “Just don’t tell anyone.”

Włodzimierz Czarzasty excluded Dariusz Matecki and Michał Woś from the session.

Escalation and Removal of Lawmakers

Woś joined Matecki, carrying another sign related to the case of Kamila L. Sławomir Nitras and other KO politicians attempted to take the sign from Woś. Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty urged PiS lawmakers not to disrupt the proceedings.

Czarzasty stated to Matecki, “I call you to order and state that you are preventing the conduct of proceedings.” In response, some lawmakers began chanting “down with communism.” When Matecki and Woś did not respond to warnings, Czarzasty excluded both PiS lawmakers from the session.

Internal Tensions Within PiS

Mateusz Morawiecki is reportedly maneuvering against Jarosław Kaczyński within the PiS party. He has founded the Rozwój Plus association, attracting lawmakers, and maintains he is prepared to work for Poland and fight for PiS’s victory, focusing on a centrist approach.

The Kamila L. Case

On March 19th, the District Court in Świdnica sentenced 41-year-old Kamila L. to 6.5 years in prison for failing to assist a minor who was a victim of sexual abuse. She was also convicted of animal abuse.

The court determined she witnessed zoophilic acts committed by her husband, who was previously sentenced to 25 years in prison for these and other crimes, including rape.
